Hello, your name is?

Growing up I remember time and again someone coming up to my mother (who has lived in the same area for her entire life) and saying "Nancy! Hello! It's so great to see you... " and watching as my mother chatted with them. As we would walk away she would whisper "I am not quite sure who that was." Each time that would happen I was always like "mom, I think you have memory problems."

Now I am a mom.

Now I get it.

Now I have memory problems.

Oh man. I wish we could all just wear "hello my name is_________" tags with a brief description below of who you are. Is that too much to ask?

I totally understand what the problem is (which really is not a problem, since it is so nice to meet new people). It's having kids that are older and involved in things. You get to know more and more people and the more kids you have the more people you know. from pre-school, elementary school, swim team, art class, therapy, church (don't get me started on being LDS... that opens up a whole new door of how we know each other from being in the same ward, to going to church schools, etc...)!! How do people have 5 or 6 or 10 kids and keep their head on straight? Seriously! We should all be wearing name tags just for their sake.

The other day I was at the grocery store and I ran into a familiar face that I was not sure how I knew and we chatted all about what we were cooking and all sorts of small talk. The entire time I was trying to figure out who she was. Finally as I was walking out the door, it hit me... SHE LIVES down the STREET FROM ME! For crying out loud, she is my neighbor!

That's pretty bad.

However, the problem would have been solved if she was wearing a name tag... with a brief description .... and maybe her address then I could have put the two together real quick!
