Meeting the Mayor

Last week Katie was invited by the major to come to the city council meeting. It was there that they presented her as well as Ms. Wheelchair, our darling Mary, a beautiful certificate of congratulations!
Katie and Mary both were given some time to say a few words.
I almost lost it when I looked up to see my baby on that big screen talking about how she wants to help raise awareness and help other children with disabilities. The room was so big and full of so many people and it did not seem to phase her. So proud of her!

After the meeting Jennifer (Ms. Wheelchair 2010, and the president of the Ms. Wheelchair foundation) took us out to dinner. What a treat it was for Katie and I to be able to spend some time chatting with these truly remarkable women who have done SO much for our community of wheelchair users.

On Saturday our friend Shane was flipping through the channels on TV when all of a sudden he saw Katie on the local station! They were re broadcasting the City Council meeting! He took a picture of the TV and shared it with us! Too fun!
I had no idea how amazing this experience was going to be with Katie winning the title of Jr. Miss Wheelchair. In just these past few weeks she has already had so many amazing opportunities and has met so many remarkable people. We are so grateful for this opportunity for her.
