Remember 8 years ago today...
8 years ago today I went into labor two weeks early with Katie. Bryant was in a job interview an hour away and did not have the cell phone on! It was 4:00, traffic hour and I had to get to LA, to the hospital where the specialized team of doctors were. So my mom who does not drive LA freeways, put her tough, mama bear face on and off we went. While I sat in the front seat breathing through contractions, mom sat in the drivers seat breathing through traffic. It was seriously a scene out of a movie and a day I will never forget!
Finally, we got a hold of Bryant and he met us up at the hospital where the doctors were able to slow labor down for one more day until they got the team ready. I did not sleep much that night as I knew the next day would be big.
So many emotions.
So excited to see my sweet baby but anxious for everything to go well as I knew she would be having surgery right away.
There are really no words to describe the next morning. Such a special, sacred and beautiful experience full of peace and joy.
We witnessed miracle after miracle.
It was also on that day where I saw Bryant turn into a Father.
He did not leave Katie's side hardly at all that week. Since we could not hold her the first two days, he stood next to her crib in the NICU and would just pat her hand or head. I will never forget that special time. I thought my heart would burst with love for my new little daughter and for my husband who took his role as father so seriously from that day on.
Tonight we celebrated Fathers day and tomorrow we celebrate Katie's 8th birthday.
My heart is so full tonight of love and gratitude. So thankful to be married to such a wonderful man and so blessed to be the mother of such a special little girl.

What a nice post! I can't believe it has been 8 years since our babies were born!
I love getting ready to have your first baby when you can't get a hold of your husband! Ladd was in a midterm when I went to the hospital to have Tanner! He literally got there as they were wheeling me into the operating room!
I love this post. I SO get it. Happy Birthday Katie!!
